5785 High Holiday Schedule and Service Descriptions
Erev Rosh haShana - Wednesday Oct 2
8-9pm Erev Rosh haShana Service - We will bring in the New Year with a soulful, musical service led by Rabbi Anna, our student rabbi Anne Prusky, and musicians Rick and Sandy Wortzel. Held in our outdoor sanctuary, this service has a later start time to allow us to have holiday dinner with family and friends. Rain location: Sanctuary. Zoom option available.
Rosh haShana Day 1 - Thursday Oct 3
9-9:30am K’tan Service - Sue Weiner, our Religious School Director, will be leading K’tan services in the outdoor sanctuary appropriate for children aged 0-7 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Rain location: Classroom 5/6. In person only.
9:45-12:15pm Junior Congregation Experience - Sue Weiner will lead this participatory and creative service, appropriate for all those ages 7-12, in the outdoor sanctuary. Parents, please drop off your child(ren) and go upstairs for the main service in the sanctuary. Rain location: Classroom 5/6. In person only.
9:45am-12:15pm Sanctuary Service - Led by Rabbi Anna and the Kol Emet High Holiday choir, this service brings our entire community together as we begin the new year with song, reflection, and the sound of the shofar. Zoom option available.
9:45am-12:15pm Children’s Programming/Babysitting - Concurrent with the main service, children’s programming will be provided for children ages 2-8. Location: Room 2/3.

1:30-2:15pm All Ages Musaf Shofar Service - This year we are pleased to offer a creative and interactive Rosh haShana Musaf Shofar service in our outdoor contemplative space, followed by Tashlich at the Yardley boat launch. Bring your shofar! Rain location: Sanctuary. In person only.
2:30pm All Ages Tashlich - At the Yardley boat launch, followed by a visit from the ice cream truck. Rain Date: Friday October 4 at 2:30pm. In person only.

9:45am-12:15pm Sanctuary Service - Led by Rabbi Anna and Student Rabbi Anne Prusky, this service has a more traditional feel, yet includes ample time for reflection and discussion. Zoom option available.
9:45am-12:15pm Kids Programming/Babysitting - Concurrent with the main service, children’s programming will be provided for children ages 2-11. Location: Room 2/3.

Kol Nidre - Friday Oct 11
6-8:15pm Sanctuary Service - Led by Rabbi Anna, Student Rabbi Anne Prusky, and the Kol Emet High Holiday choir, this solemn and beautiful service ushers in the holiest day of the year. We will stand before the open ark to hear the timeless recitation of the Kol Nidre prayer. Zoom option available.
6-8:15pm Kids Programming/babysitting - Concurrent with the main service, children’s programming will be provided for children ages 2-11. Location: Room 2/3.
Yom Kippur - Saturday Oct 12

12:30pm-1:15pm Yizkor Service - This year, we will hold a traditional Yizkor service which will include time to remember and grieve all those we lost on October 7, 2023. Zoom option available.
1:30pm-2:15pm Yizkor Circle - Following the service, we will have a more intimate space for those who wish to share memories of loved ones and reflect together. In person only.
12:30-1:15pm Babysitting for families of those attending the Yizkor service. May be extended to 2:30pm or 3:45pm if there is interest and availability
2:30-3:30pm Contemplative Avodah Meditation and Movement- The traditional Avodah service recounts the steps of the High Priest in the Holy Temple as he makes atonement for the people and utters God’s Ineffable Name. This contemplative experience will incorporate meditation and movement, as we ask ourselves: What is our sacred offering? How do we forgive ourselves and let go of all that we cannot do or save? How do we exemplify God’s Name in our precious and fractured world?
3:30-4:30pm Compassionate Listening co-led by Debbie Wachspress and Rabbi Anna Boswell-Levy - Compassionate Listening is a deep listening tool that allows us to reflect on our emotional and physical response to grief, without interruption. In this session, we will be exploring how our Jewish identity and feelings about being Jewish have shifted or changed as a result of October 7 and its aftermath.
4:45-5:30pm All Ages Jonah Service - This Yom Kippur, the Jonah afternoon service and our concluding Neilah service, both held in the sanctuary, are designed to be inclusive of families and those who want a shorter and more interactive experience. Zoom option available.
5:30pm- 6:15pm All Ages Neilah Service - Bring your shofar! Lightsticks will be provided. Havdalah and the final shofar blast will be at 6:15pm. Zoom option available.
6:30pm Community Break Fast
